Early Morning

Just after sunrise on Woods Canyon Lake

Today we have a nice little view of one of our favorite camping spots, Woods Canyon Lake.   This little gem is about 90 minutes away from the summer heat of Phoenix.

The summer months in Phoenix are brutal (I know who would of thought) as temps hit 110+ and stay there days on end.  However a short drive will put you up on the Mogollon Rim near Payson.   This area reaches an altitude over 5000 feet and becomes our Antarctic oasis.  Okay it’s not really that cold but you get the idea. Elevation is everything.

With summer fast approaching our family is already looking forward to another great season of camping.  You can bet we will be returning to Woods Canyon for a little “R and R”.

Until next time…

  1. Man, I would so love some S’mores with this view. You totally have me stoked to go camping this summer. Maybe I need to go before June! Pretty shot man.

  2. I really like the composition, Chris. Beauty and balance! I’m not much of a camper but still can appreciate the beauty of nature. (on day trips from the hotel). 🙂

  3. Clever composition, Chris! I love the way the rock, the clouds and their reflection all point into the center of the image to provide lead-ins from three of the four corners.

  4. What a magical scene this is Chris! Wonderful work. That sky and the reflections are beautiful without being to overdone or fake looking, just perfect. Nice work.
