Today we revisit the Grand Falls of northern Arizona. I’ve written several posts on this trip that I did with fellow photog buddies Mike Olbinski, Rick Young, Scott Wood, and Ken Petersen. It was such an amazing trip full of good times and great images.
We had decided to hike down for some up close and personal shots before sunset came. Once you make the hike down, the falls take on a whole new persona. You feel the power of the water coming over and then rushing downstream. I was so thankful we were able to make it to the bottom to witness this natural wonder.
I still find it amazing that people who have lived here their whole life have never heard of or seen the falls. It just perplexes me that something this “grand” has stayed hidden from so many. Maybe that’s a good thing?
Until next time…
Camera: Canon 40D with a Tamron 17-35mm
Processing: 5 shot HDR image using Lightroom 3, CS4, Photomatix 4, Phototools 2.6
It’s definitely a good thing 🙂 Nice shot!
This is a great shot Chris – very cool looking falls, albeit a bit dirty haha.
Terrific shot Chris. Love the framing and exposure. Never heard of them before and will have to add it to the places to visit.
I love these low shots of the falls. This just looks like the chocolate waterfall in the Wonka factory. I want to scoop up a glass and enjoy the chocolaty goodness, until I realize it is all dirt. Great shot, Chris!
Hmmmm…what to say? How about Wow! Great image.
Great shot Chris, you really can feel the power of the water from this vantage point.
Wow, Chris you’ve captured the majesty and power of the falls and the rapids in one frame! Breathtaking perspective – grateful to view on solid ground!
Great POV! I really have to make it out there someday. It’s on my photography bucket list!
Absolutely incredible capture here, Chris!
Definitely on my list of places to stop when I move from CA to FL next year! Maybe I’ll meet you guys out there!
Beauty falls Chris! Like the angle!
Really liking the detail you got in the water. I borrowed Rick’s 10 stop ND filter for my shot at this perspective and there is no detail in the water at all. 🙂
Freaking amazing man! Water is perfect.
Those look awesome. I love good waterfall. It almost looks like smooth dust flowing over the side. Well captured.
Great water movement and perfectly framed. Great job!
Great shot Chris. This on really shows the power!
Great effort at photographing the falls across multiple exposures. Came out very well. Terrific.
