Rails

A quick post for today. Last summer we vacationed in one of our favorite spots, Durango Colorado. While we were busy with horse back riding, boating, and hiking, one of our excursions involved riding the narrow gauge railroad. The train travels from Durango to Silverton and I highly recommend it as the views you get from the passenger car are breathtaking. It makes its way through some incredible back country as you traverse the San Juan Mountains.
The bridge you see above is located in Rotary Park and spans the Animas River. The park gives you a great view of the river and the white water rafters. I couldn’t help but to jump on the tracks and grab a signature railroad shot. I was hoping for the train to come through so I could get a shot of it coming right at me. Although my wife was there at the time, so I’m not sure if she would of let me stare the train down or not. 🙂
Until next time…

What a jewel of a bridge! Great black and white treatment Chris – really adds to the vintage feel!
Really great perspective Chris. Love how the lines just move through the image. I just love that train ride!
Very cool shot man. Like the mono on this the tones are great.
Awesome shot Chris. Great lines and symmetry, and the B&W processing works really well here.
A really good B&W conversion. Great perspective too.
Love these low to the ground rail shots – nicely done Chris!
Nice, simple composition for which the B&W treatment is perfect. In fact, I think if left in color from the original capture, the image would not have been as powerful.
Awesome find Chris! I love shots like this and you nailed this one! Well Done!
that is some great B&W
Wonderful shot Chris. I really like the perspective of your shot, and it works great in B/W.
My family visited Durango back in 2000, and went on our first whitewater rafting trip down the Animas River. What a great trip. I can see why it’s one of your family favorite places.
Perfect shot, Chris. This is great in B&W. The rails pull you right into the image. Sweet!
