What an awesome time I had shooting this Phoenix engagement session. I was super stoked when Emily and Chris said they wanted to shoot in downtown Phoenix.

Chris and Emily’s Phoenix Engagement Session

Shooting in an urban environment always opens up a world of possibilities. From back alleys to skyscrapers to grungy walls there is a little bit of everything to work with in Phoenix. It’s always a nice change of pace from shooting at parks.

I met up with Emily and Chris a few weeks back to shoot their engagement photos for their upcoming February wedding. These guys were high energy but in a quiet way if that makes any sense. They kept me laughing the whole time which was awesome. We made our way around Phoenix courtesy of Chris’s directions.  He works in downtown so he knew all the streets like the back of his hand.  I felt like a tourist as Chris would point things out about the buildings. Did you know there are tunnels beneath Phoenix? I didn’t.

We combed the whole city having shooting and having fun. Each location I would just say “lets try this guys” and they would jump right on it. Emily had asked about getting a few sunset shots with the city in the back ground and of course my inner photographer meter railed on the possibility. As night came we made our way up to the top of one of the local parking garages to grab a few sunset photos.  Mother Nature gave us a nice little sunset to work with to cap off the shoot.

I can’t wait for their wedding to roll around next year.  Below are a few of my favorite shots from their Phoenix engagement session. Enjoy!!
