Portland Wedding | Corey and Lyssi
Corey and Lyssi’s Portland wedding was one to remember. Friends and family attended the celebration as these two became the northwest’s newest married couple.
Portland Wedding Filled with Love, Family, and Friends
Last year Corey and Lyssi approached me at the Arizona Bridal Show. Right away I knew these two would be a perfect match for me. Their laid back attitude and a genuine desire to have awesome photos for their big day was I all I needed. Heck, Corey even shot weddings when he was in college to help pay the bills. As you can imagine both of them knew the value of getting good images for their once in a lifetime event.
In preparing for their wedding, Lyssi created a Pinterest board with ideas for her big day. I know some photographers get a little worried when a bride has “a board”. They fear the whole wedding will be one big checkoff list from Pinterest, with Lyssi I knew that wouldn’t be the case. She pinned some great ideas that we were able to work into the wedding while putting our own spin on things. I always encourage my brides to share a Pinterest board with me. It helps give me an idea of what type of shots they prefer. Corey and Lyssi were clear up front they wanted mostly casual candids that represented the day. Music to my ears!!! I personally believe this is the best way to capture the day as it unfolds. Throw in a few posed shots to make mom happy and let the rest happen. 🙂
We started our day Hotel Deluxe for the first look and family photos. Hotel Deluxe provided a perfect setting for the first look. Their rustic elevators gave us a gorgeous setup to capture that moment when Corey sees his bride in her wedding dress. Always a magical moment!
From there we made our way over to the parking garage to grab a few rooftop shots since the rain had stopped. The sky had cleared up just enough to allow us to get the city skyline. After that we made our way over to Opal 28 for the ceremony.
The ceremony was quite special as Lyssi carried the flag from her grandfather’s funeral. Corey and Lyssi said their vows as tears flowed. The toasts were spoken, the cupcakes (baked by Lyssi who has her own cupcake company) were devoured, and guests danced into the evening. Their night concluded with a sparkler exit as friends and family congratulated them one more time. What a magical evening.
Special thanks to the incredible team who help pull off Corey and Lyssi’s wedding without a flaw.
