Figured I would start this week off with a shot from our trip to Durango Colorado. We spent last week there on vacation and had a great time. In between all the activities I was able to capture quite a few photos that I’ll be sharing as time goes by.
Today’s image is a shot of the path that leads to Little Molas Lake. The lake sits just off highway 550 which is between Durango and Silverton Colorado. Elevation here is slightly over 10,000 feet.
I had stopped there hoping to get a shot of the mountains reflecting off the lake. Mother Nature decided against that by blowing some strong breezes that rippled the water. As we got out of the car I couldn’t help but notice how scenic the path was, especially at a lower level. I dropped my tripod down as low as it would go and captured this image. It is always good to change your perspective to create a more interesting shot. Shooting from normal height down on the path would of been a pretty boring shot. Sometimes it is the little things we can do that can make a big impact on our photography.
I chose the name Dreams for this image to reflect our desire to live in the mountains someday. My wife and I have always dreamed of living in CO and hope to some day make that a reality.
Until next time…

This is one of your best Chris, I love the path, awesome colors, they are so vibrant! Great shot
Beautiful shot Chris, nicely done!
Purty!
It really does appear to be the pathway to your dreams.
What a nice tranquil setting. Really wish I were there right now.
Love the path drawing the eye through the frame and the pops of color from the flowers. Great choice to get low!
Wonderful shot, Chris. This is magazine ready. 🙂
Love the colors and comp.
