Hard to believe but this is AZ. A two hour drive from Phoenix will put you here on the Mogollon Rim. Not only does that 2 hours buy you a view like this, it also comes with a big temperature drop. This sacred haven is sought out on a continual basis throughout the summer. Phoenicians flock here every weekend to escape the triple digit temps.
In fact we did just that this past weekend. My family and several friends enjoyed a nice weekend here in the high country. Camping is abundant as there are several forest service campgrounds located nearby. In addition there are a few lakes to add to the weekend’s activities. They are fairly small and motors are restricted to 10HP or less making these lakes ideal for kayaking or canoeing.
Saturday we were able to spend several hours out on Woods Canyon Lake before a mountain storm ran us off. It was the maiden voyage of our new canoe. Needless to say we had a blast.
This view is from the area known as Vista Point. I always make my way over here every time we are in the area. Its a great place to dangle your feet off and have a zen moment or two. One can never have enough zen in your life. 😉
Until next time…

This is just amazing Chris, I love the view, your composition is perfect, and those rays of light are heavenly. Well done man
Really love the way you have the sun’s rays going up out of the clouds and down to the land. Great job Chris
Beauty Chris! Nicely done.
Wonderful comp, but it is that sky that clearly takes the cake. Love how the sun is peaking out and the rain is falling in the background. Just awesome!
that’s beautiful Chris, great comp and processing, and love those sun rays peeking thru!
Beautiful Chris. Love the sun rays coming through the clouds.
Gorgeous! Sadly I have not made it out there in the 31 years I have lived here. I must rectify that!
Such a wonderful view. And yeah, I was there for one week and can officially say your weather sucks, lol. Accept the lightning. That I’m jealous of.
Our weather may suck during the summer, but it is a different story in December, January and February when we are in shorts and everyone else is shoveling snow. 😀
Fantastic image Chris! Live composition and that sky just rocks!
Top flippin’ drawer my friend!!!
Wow, my first thought was this looks like somewhere on the east coast. Love that light bursting through the clouds.
Awesome image, Chris. Love the view.
Beautiful scene, the Rim is one of my favorite places in Arizona.
Gorgeous view of one of my favorite parts of the state.
