Looking Back on 2013

This time of the year most photographers post a year in review of their best shots. I personally always enjoying seeing my fellow photographers work once again to see their amazing images. It pushes me to be better as a photographic artist.

So here I am writing my own review for the year 2013. It was quite a ride for me and my photography business. I truly felt I climbed on rung on the ladder this past year with my business. I participated in my first bridal show and it proved to be a sound financial decision. I was able to meet with several brides face to face and managed to book several weddings from the show. I will be hitting 2014 with a bridal show this month and can’t wait to see what it brings.

In addition to the weddings I managed to squeeze in a fair number of family portrait sessions. These are always fun for me as I enjoy interacting with families. Each family brings a different personality to the table so it is never the same thing twice. Plus I always enjoy seeing other parents trying to wrangle their children during a session. My own children are always a handful for me to shoot so seeing other families go through this makes me feel better. 🙂 Sadistic I know.

And finally there is my own personal landscape and storm chasing adventures. These are the things in life that keep me balanced and grounded. Getting out and capturing Mother Nature at her finest is my zen. Rather it be photographing lightning or an amazing Arizona sunset my soul is at its happiest. I’ve been an “outdoorsy” person all my life and capturing some of those moments with my camera is icing on the cake. One of my favorite times this past year was a trip to the Grand Canyon with my buddy Bryan Snider. It was a day trip with the hopes of capturing a storm inside the Canyon. The storms never really panned out but we still managed to grab some great images of one of the seven wonders of the world.

As 2014 begins I would like to say “Thank You” to all my clients and everyone who has supported me in this photographic endeavor. From kind words and comments to trusting me to capture your memories humbles me like no other. I look forward to the new year ready and willing to do even more. I’m just getting started so stay tuned!!!

In no particular order here are some of my favorite images from 2013. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did in making them.

    1. Thank you so much Bryan. It was a good year. I’m looking forward to more storm chasing and some destination shooting. We have to go back to the Canyon.
