A few weeks back the monsoon season started here in Arizona. With that comes thunderstorms, flash flooding, and my favorite part lightning.
The strike above was captured near Casa Grande Arizona. That night was one that started out ok in terms of strikes and then finished with a good flurry of activity. When you head out you never really know what you are going to come back with, empty handed or a flash card full of happiness.
I met up later that evening with my buddy Bryan and his wife Monica during this chase. Bryan is an avid storm chaser as well so when you get a chance do stop by his site. It’s always nice to share the monsoon experience with friends.
So far this year has started out well for lightning so let’s keep our fingers crossed it continues.
Until next time…

Extraordinary capture, Chris. Perfect timing.
Very cool Chris. Seeing the city lights at the bottom of the image gives you a sense of how big and powerful these strikes can be.
Wow, it’s been a great year for lightning.
This is an awesome strike Chris. You have the most amazing lightning in the southwest.
That is one crazy strike. It is like the electricity had ADD on the way down.
Seeing the city lights at the bottom of the image gives you a sense of how big and powerful these strikes can be…I ts awesome kind of lighting..
