Breaking Through

Today’s post is all about highlighting Mother Nature. As you can see she can put on quite a show when she chooses to do so.
Last week I ventured out for my first storm chase of the 2012 season. I was headed south to the Casa Grande area when I noticed the sun beams breaking out in the distance. I pulled over and set up for a few quick brackets. The haboob coming in from the south was getting larger and knew I only had a few minutes to capture this scene.
Satisfied with my shots I jumped back in the Tacoma and headed into the dust storm. Within 10 minutes of driving I was engulfed in near blackout conditions as I drove into the haboob. I managed to get to the “backside” of the dust storm and spot lightning in the Casa Grande area. Good times were to come as I got several lightning captures that night.
Tonight we have another opportunity for more storms and I couldn’t be happier. Oh monsoon season how I have missed you.
Until next time…

I like how the sun is chilling out in the valley on those mountains. You stay safe in your adventures 🙂
Roger that. 🙂
Gah! This is gorgeous! The texture in those clouds…wow!
Thank you Erin. We are blessed here in AZ with some amazing sunsets.
This is such an awesome shot Chris. The beauty of mother nature. Stay safe storm chasing.
What a fantastic sky. Fabulous light.
Yummy. Love the sky, but those sun rays are gorgeous. I love how the lines in the sky draws me to the sun.
Love the Cirrocumulus clouds especially at sunset! Great capture
