On A Dark Desert Highway

So today’s title I borrowed from the Eagles hit “Hotel California”.  It seemed appropriate for the mood of this image.

I shot this one a few weeks back during an early morning rendezvous with photog buddy Mike Oblbinski.  Mike and I both share a love for “middle of the road” shots.  I’m not sure if it is a true love or a sublime death wish. 🙂  Nonetheless we took turns running out to the highway snapping brackets as the other watched for cars.  I’m sure it was comical sight to any on-lookers.

We had hoped for cloud wrapped Superstition Mountains, but didn’t quite get that from Mother Nature.  The clouds stayed high above so we made the most of it.

The drama with the dawn light combined with the clouds seemed like a good fit for the monochrome treatment.  Let me know what you think.

Until next time…

  1. I will never hear Hotel California again without seeing this image! Great Shot! Very Suiting Title!

  2. Great shot, Chris. I like how this leads the eye to the mountains in the background and that lovely starburst dead center of the road.

Nice detail in the roadway, too.
